What’s with you Ubisoft? You make quite a few games I enjoy, but its pretty obvious that you don’t care about the PC as a platform. Why? What is it about a huge user base and easy distribution system that you hate so much?
Every single PC game I’ve seen come out of the mouth of Ubisoft has been a delayed port. Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, 2 weeks delayed. Ghost Recon: Future Solider? Over a month delayed. Why? And now Assassin’s Creed 3 is delayed to sometime before Christmas, but only for PC.
And then that copy protection system. Wow, don’t even get me started on this stuff. For awhile it installed some crazy extra software that pinged a server over and over again to basically just make sure you still bought the game at some point. Is piracy really this bad? Who even cares? The people who buy your games love them and adore you, but you just keep telling them “no, there’s still pirates out there, we have to continue the police state-like protection system to keep them away.”
Yea, it looks like its doing wonders. Just get over it already, concentrate on releasing awesome games and making boatloads of money. Don’t worry about the pirates. Don’t take it out on the guys who like to buy your games, we’lre still here. We’ll worry about the pirates, they just like to give you a hard time. Just give us more reasons to buy stuff. I have a lot of money ready.
Truth be told, I stay away from Ubisoft games on PC now. If I see one on sale a light in my head goes off: “wait a minute, isn’t this going to install something bad on my PC?” “Yea, it probably will,” I tell myself, so I stay away and don’t give you any money at all.
Maybe I’m the one being irrational right now, but prove me wrong. Give me a reason to buy your stuff on PC again. I want to, I really do.
